Girls Rugby 2024

SJRU Club 7s Championships

In 2024 SJRU will run a specific Club 7s Championships.

Games will be held on Sunday 3rd Mar at Riverwood Park, Riverwood or Deerubbin Park, Windsor.
 
The Club 7s Champs are to celebrate our CLUB Rugby players from the previous season and have strict eligibility criteria.
 
Players that played for a CLUB in either of the 2023 Girls XVs or 2023 Girls Frosty 7s are eligible to play for that specific Club in these 2024 Champs. 
 
Spring 7s does not count towards eligibility and any players that have moved clubs for 2024 or are new will need provide detail to SJRU as towards dispensation.
 
 

Sera Naiqama Cup – Girls Rugby 10’s Competition

This is a weekly 10 a side Competition for Girls, which is run on a Home & Away basis (same as the boys).

We will request nominations for all age groups but may have to revert to joining age groups together if nominations don’t provide a critical mass in each. 
 
The Competition runs from 7th Apr (with a Grading Gala kicking off proceedings) until the 30th June (Finals) and is a perfect leadup (and follow-on) to the NSWJRU Girls State Championships, of which Reps are run in the U12, U14, U16 & U18 Age groups. 
 

The Sera Naiqama Cup is strategically placed to allow the girls to build into the NSWJRU State Championships on the June Long weekend and enjoy the bigger format of the game after as well. Please note that the 2024 NSW Junior State Championships will have a mandatory eligibility criteria of FOUR (4) CLUB games played in either the 2024 Girls 10’s or 2024 mixed age SJRU XV’s competition prior to the June Long weekend. Schools games do NOT count towards eligibility.

Frosty 7’s Wave

The SJRU Frosty Girls 7’s Competition starts with Round 1 on the 4th Aug and a Grand Final on 15th Sept 2024.
Registration via Rugby Xplorer only via your local Club – Registration type: 7’s Juniors

Frosty 7’s is a competition wave and will hold finals series etc. All teams will play games on the Grand Final Round.

Spring 7’s Wave

In 2024 SJRU will run our last wave of Girls (Spring 7’s) commencing on Sunday 20th October with the wave concluding on Sunday 17th November .
Spring 7s is run as a competition gala format playing each fortnight with a finals series on the last Sunday..

VENUES & TIMING for Frosty 7’s, Spring 7’s 
Indicative timing of games will be between 9:00am and 5:00pm with a minimum of 2 competition games each Sunday the aim.
We run this at our rugby clubs and is an ideal way to raise funds for your club via canteen and BBQ. Clubs wishing to host please contact SJRU

REGISTER
Prior to Game 1 of each wave, all players will be required to register online via their local clubs.

NSW 7’s State Champs – October

NSW 7’s State Champs will be held on 28-30 Sep (U11 & U13) and 11-13 October 2024 (U15 & U17). This year’s 7’s competition will be for District based teams as with the 15’s competition (except U11 which is club based). Districts will need to select teams for inclusion in the competition. Clubs will not be permitted to submit teams in the 2024 7 a side State Cup for U13, U15 & U17.

Open to girls in the following age brackets:

  • U11 (can include U10 & U11)
  • U13 (can include U12 & U13)
  • U15 (can include U14 & U15)
  • U17 (Opens) (can include U16 & U17)**

** Note Any U18 Girls participating in the local competitions ie Frosty 7’s or SJRU XV’s with dispensation are not eligible to be selected in any U17 Girls Representative Team.
